Check the resource's interaction prompt before trying to gather it. RaidDex's extracted node database associates trees with a Logging Axe, mining nodes with a Pickaxe, and many plants with a Sickle. The required tool depends on the resource, not just on having a weapon equipped.
Match the tool to the resource
| Resource examples in the database | Listed tool |
|---|---|
| Young and mature trees | Logging Axe |
| Rock, Dark Vein and Archeum mining nodes | Pickaxe |
| Bluebell, Lily and Wildfiber plants | Sickle |
These are tool associations, not verified live spawn counts. The database also contains entries without a listed tool; a blank entry is not proof that every similar resource is freely gatherable.
Prepare before making a material run
Write down the material names required by your active recipe or quest. Check the relevant tool and keep room in the Bag before leaving. Gather the exact resource the objective requests rather than assuming every tree or rock provides an interchangeable output.
If the objective is Rufus's Logging Axe, follow that quest's specific acquisition instructions. Do not assume another axe-shaped item automatically satisfies the quest.
Diagnose a failed interaction
Read any missing-tool or other requirement message first. If the prompt appears but interaction never completes, note the resource and location. The November 7 maintenance improved occasional failures to interact with gathering nodes and objects; this is a historical fix, not evidence that every present failure has the same cause.
Update the client and reproduce the issue once before reporting the exact prompt and tool state. A third-party map's total node count is not a respawn timer and should not be used to promise a guaranteed farming route.
