Privacy and analytics choices for this guide

Analytics and your controls

Google Analytics runs automatically on normal production pages to help us understand which guides are useful. We do not show a statistics question or banner. If you previously disabled analytics in this browser, that choice is respected. You can turn analytics off or back on using the buttons on this privacy page; the controls do not appear elsewhere.

Your explicit preference is stored in this browser’s local storage and applies across site languages. If storage is cleared, analytics returns to the default on setting. If storage cannot be saved, a change applies to the current page only and may not persist after navigation. When enabled, Google Analytics may use cookies and process page paths, page titles, basic browser/device information and approximate location. We remove query strings and fragments from the page and referrer values sent by our code; we do not send site-search text.

We disable Google signals and advertising personalization in our analytics configuration. Turning analytics off stops future collection by this site; it does not retroactively erase events already received. Existing Google cookies may remain until cleared in your browser. Preview hosts, noindex pages and bulk automated QA do not collect analytics.

Advertising

Content pages may show one clearly labeled 300 × 250 Adsterra banner. It loads near the visible area in a sandboxed iframe with an opaque origin; it cannot access this page’s storage or DOM through same-origin privileges. There are no popunders or automatic refreshes in our integration.

Adsterra and its advertising partners may receive your IP address, browser/device information and ad-request information, and may use their own storage where browser rules allow it. Isolation does not make requests anonymous or prevent the provider from processing data. Analytics consent controls Google Analytics only; turning it off does not disable this separate banner. Browser privacy tools may block advertising. Legal and contact pages do not carry ads.
