Which crafting station should you use, and why is a recipe missing?

Choose the station for the item you want to make, not simply the nearest workbench. Crafting, processing materials and learning a recipe are separate checks. A full Bag of ingredients does not by itself make every recipe available.

Match the finished item to its station

RaidDex's profession database lists these useful starting points:

Goal Profession and station
Weapons Smithing — Weapon Workbench
Armor Tailoring — Armor Workbench
Buildings Engineering — Construction Workshop or Engineering Workbench
Potions Alchemy — Brewing Furnace

This is a secondary database guide to station types. Check the recipe list and requirements in the current game rather than assuming every station entry or future-region location is accessible.

Separate a missing recipe from missing materials

The official progression overview confirms that treasure chests can contain rare crafting recipes. Finding raw materials therefore does not replace finding the recipe itself. Inspect the recipe or blueprint item and follow its displayed learning instruction where available.

At the station, identify whether the obstacle is recipe knowledge, a profession requirement, missing processed materials or the displayed cost. Solve that requirement first; gathering more of an unrelated ingredient will not unlock a different station's recipe.

Make the intended quantity

Compare the selected output with your actual need before confirming. Check ingredient quality as well as its name, and account for the processing stage when the recipe asks for an ingot or lumber instead of raw ore or a log.

Start with the item needed for your current objective. You can add a house station later if its blueprint and placement requirements suit your plan; owning a home is not a reason to skip checking the public station's recipe list.
